Announcing AOR's Newest Board Member Catherine Walsh is the Business Outreach Coordinator for the Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she provides technical assistance and manages programs for the commercial and industrial sector to assist with waste reduction and diversion efforts. She is a veteran environmental professional with more than 28 years of experience in the areas of hazardous and solid waste management, investigation and remediation, environmental compliance and teaching. Call for Board Members & Committee Participants AOR is pleased to announce the call for nominations for its Board of Directors. AOR, a 501(c)(6) nonprofit trade association that promotes waste reduction, reuse and recycling, is governed by a Board of Directors that is responsible for carrying out its mission, vision, programs, projects and activities. AOR encourages our members to become industry leaders by running for the Board of Directors and/or by volunteering for one of our board-led committees. These committees include Communications & Programming, Events, Governance, Finance and Strategic Planning & Development, and an overview of each committee can be found on our website. Serving on AOR’s Board is a two-year commitment, and board members are expected to attend monthly meetings either in-person or via conference call. NRC Webinar: Plastic Carryout Bag Legislation Overview: This webinar will focus on plastic carryout bag legislation across the U.S. and provide a short history of carryout bag laws, outline the basic carryout bag law structures, and delve into the key components to include in a good law. The discussion will include threats of state preemption of local bag laws, including the Pennsylvania state bag preemption legislation recently vetoed by Governor Wolf, and touch on how advocates in communities around the U.S. are pushing back on preemption threats. NOTE: These webinars are a free service for members of the National Recycling Coalition (NRC). The Resource Recycling Conference, in partnership with NRC and in alliance with Waste360, the Recycling Association of Minnesota and the Minnesota chapter of SWANA, is the "must-attend conference for the recycling industry’s most influential policy leaders, CEOs and government officials". The conference, now entering its seventh year, is your opportunity to network with clients, prospective partners, vendors and top materials management decision-makers all in one location. The conference's lineup of education sessions will offer attendees the latest on materials processing trends, tactics to boost diversion rates, legislative talking points, market analysis and much more. Upcoming Materials Management Advisory Council Meetings Ohio's Materials Management Advisory Council (MMAC) was established in 2015 through Ohio House Bill 64. The primary purpose of the council is to provide advice and guidance to the Director of Ohio EPA on solid waste issues, including updates to the State Solid Waste Management Plan and Ohio EPA’s recycling and litter prevention grant programs. The council is also tasked with facilitating partnerships that expand markets for recycled commodities. The council is comprised of thirteen members appointed by the Governor to serve three year terms. The composition of the council is designed to include key stakeholders in Ohio’s comprehensive solid waste management system and includes representatives from solid waste management districts, health districts, counties, municipal corporations, townships, statewide environmental advocacy groups, private sector industries and the general public. MMAC is currently meeting bi-monthly on the third Wednesday of the month at Ohio EPA’s central office in downtown Columbus. The next meeting is scheduled for August 16, 2017. Please consider attending one the MMAC meetings to be included in discussions that are guiding the contents of the next State Solid Waste Management Plan. City of Dublin | Department of Public Works

The City of Dublin's Department of Public Works pays for refuse, recycling and yard waste collection for all residents, and provides each Dublin household with a recycling container. The City offers single-stream recycling, which means that all recyclable materials can be placed in the same container without being sorted. In 2016, Dublin's curbside recycling program collected 5,052 tons of recyclable materials.
